Instagram DM Automation in India: Rupee Pricing and UPI AutoPay

Automating Instagram DMs from India: pay in rupees with UPI instead of a dollar card, what Instagram allows, and setups that work for Indian sellers.

By Noolu5 min read

Most Instagram DM automation tools are priced in US dollars and billed to an international card. If you're in India, that usually means paying more than the sticker price, and sometimes not being able to pay at all. This guide covers what to look for when you pay from India, what Instagram's rules allow wherever you are, and setups that work well for Indian sellers and creators.

We make Noolu, which offers rupee pricing in India, so read the pricing section with that in mind.

Why paying in dollars costs more than it says

  • Forex markup. Indian banks charge a foreign currency markup on international card payments, usually around 2 to 3.5% of the amount, plus GST on that fee. A $19 plan costs more than $19 converted at the day's rate.
  • Recurring card payments can fail. Under RBI's e-mandate rules, a card subscription has to be registered as a mandate with your bank. Many international tools don't support that well, so renewals get declined and the subscription lapses.
  • Not everyone has an international card. Plenty of debit cards are domestic only, and many small businesses and creators simply pay for everything with UPI.

So when you compare tools, check two things besides the price: whether it charges in rupees, and whether it takes UPI.

Paying with UPI AutoPay

UPI AutoPay lets a subscription renew from your UPI app without a card. You approve a mandate once in GPay, PhonePe, Paytm or your bank's UPI app, and each renewal is charged automatically. You can see the mandate in your UPI app at any time.

Noolu Pro in India is ₹499 a month, or ₹3,999 a year (about ₹333 a month), with GST included. You can pay with UPI AutoPay or a card. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which issues the invoice. The free Starter plan is the same everywhere: up to 10 active automations, no card or UPI needed. Rupee prices are shown to visitors in India; see the pricing page.

Instagram's rules are the same in India

Any tool that uses Instagram's official API works within the same Meta rules, wherever you are:

  • You need an Instagram Creator or Business account. Personal accounts can't use the messaging API. Switching is free in Instagram's settings.
  • Someone who comments gets one private reply, sent within 7 days of the comment. More messages are allowed only after they reply, and within 24 hours of that reply.
  • Avoid any tool that asks for your Instagram password. Official tools connect through Instagram's own login screen.

If a DM doesn't arrive, our guide to comment-to-DM problems and fixes covers the usual causes.

Setups that work well in India

"Price?" comments on product posts

Boutiques, saree and jewellery sellers, and home bakers get the same question under every post. Ask people to comment PRICE and send the price list, sizes and how to order in the DM. Add a WhatsApp or website link as a button if that's where orders happen.

Keywords in Hinglish and regional languages

People comment the way they talk. Next to PRICE, add the variants your audience actually types, such as "rate", "kitna" or "price batao", and use "contains" matching so "price batao please" still counts. Short keywords that survive autocorrect work best. Our keyword ideas list has more.

Coaches, courses and free guides

Ask viewers to comment GUIDE or LINK and send the free PDF, the webinar link or the course page. If you want followers in return, add a follow gate: Noolu asks them to follow before it sends the link.

Festival sales and launches

Diwali, Raksha Bandhan and wedding season posts can bring far more comments than usual. A comment-to-DM automation answers all of them within seconds, at 2 a.m. too, and Instagram's rate limits mean replies on a very busy post may queue for a few minutes rather than fail.

How to choose a tool from India

  • Price in rupees, GST included, so the amount you approve is the amount you pay.
  • UPI AutoPay, if you don't want to depend on an international card.
  • Official Instagram login, never your password.
  • A free plan big enough to test on a real post before you pay.
  • Limits that fit your posts: if one reel can bring hundreds of comments, avoid plans that cap DMs or bill per contact. Our ManyChat alternatives comparison explains how each tool limits you.
