Grok Bot vs Muse vs Dots: which AI agent should you use?
Pros, cons, pricing and the best use for xAI's Grok Bot, Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots.
Short answer: use Muse for life admin (it's free), Grok Bot for a cheap team of work bots (from $20/mo), and Dots if you already live in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams and can pay $100/mo.
Same idea, three different jobs: Muse runs your errands, Grok Bot runs a team, Dots runs inside your work apps.

How we got here
Pick in 10 seconds
Muse. It's the only one designed for personal errands, it has checkout built in and it's free to start. You can even talk to it on WhatsApp. Catch: it's only available in the US and Canada.
Grok Bot. You can run multiple named bots in parallel, give each its own job, and set routines that run on a schedule. It's also the cheapest paid option at $20/mo through Cursor Pro.
Dots. It reaches 4,000+ apps through ChatGPT plugins, uses your existing ChatGPT memory, and you can message it inside Slack and Teams. It needs ChatGPT Pro ($100/mo) or Business Premium.
Grok Bot. It's already included in every paid Cursor plan, so try it before paying for anything else. It's strong at bug reproduction, dashboard work and other computer-use tasks.
Muse isn't available yet and Dots on ChatGPT Pro excludes the UK, EEA and Switzerland. Your realistic options are Grok Bot (no published country list, so check the plan screen) or Dots through a Business Premium workspace.
Grok Bot has team plans on sale today (Cursor Teams), plus shareable Team Bots. Dots is available on Business Premium, and Enterprise is in admin-enabled beta. Muse is aimed at individuals.
Muse has a free tier. Grok Bot has a one-time 7-day trial credit. Dots has no free option.

Grok Bot allowances from Cursor and SuperGrok don't stack. If you have both, it uses whichever one gives you more, and linking the accounts is permanent.
Grok Bot (xAI)

Grok Bot's mascot and the avatars your bots can wear.
Cheapest paid entry at $20/mo. Run many bots at once, each with its own job. Scheduled routines. Teach-by-demonstration. Desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux, plus iOS and Android. Team plans available now.
Still in beta. All your bots share one computer, so files and logins are visible to every bot. Usage allowance isn't published. You can't pick the model. Deleting a bot can leave its files and logins behind.
Developers, Cursor users, small teams that want recurring work automated: bug repro, outbound, account health checks, dashboard updates.

Muse (Meta)

Meet Jolly, Muse's mascot, from Meta's launch video.
Free to start. Built for everyday life, not just work. WhatsApp access. Strong safety design: a separate 'Sentinel' agent must approve anything that leaves its secure VM, and there's an audit trail of what it did.
US and Canada only. Amazon has blocked Muse shopping on Amazon.com since Sep 21 (Shopify stores work). You have to opt out of model training. Some announced features (Meta glasses, Muse email address, Confidential VM) aren't out yet.
Busy individuals who want life admin handled: shopping, bookings, inbox and calendar, without paying anything.

Dots (OpenAI)

A dot can take different forms, like a cloud in a beret or a frog in a bow tie.
Deepest app connectivity (4,000+ plugins). Lives where teams already talk: Slack and Teams. Uses your existing ChatGPT memory. Fine-grained approval rules per action. Can use saved passwords without showing them to the model.
$100/mo minimum, and not on ChatGPT Plus. Pro is unavailable in the UK, EEA and Switzerland. Only one dot per account for now. Setup needs the ChatGPT desktop app or desktop web. Tasks started in Codex or ChatGPT Work still count toward your limits.
Professionals and teams who already pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business and want an agent inside their existing tools.

Privacy and safety at a glance
| Grok Bot | Muse | Dots | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Isolation | One computer shared by all your bots | Dedicated Muse Secure VM | Its own cloud computer |
| Approvals | Auto Review + 'Ask first' rules | Sentinel agent approves outbound actions | Per-action rules + auto review |
| Training on your data | Follows your Cursor setting (opt-out available) | On unless you opt out | Personal: your setting. Business: off by default |
| Passwords | You take over for passwords, 2FA, CAPTCHAs | Can't see passwords or payment methods | Uses saved passwords without exposing them to the model |
All three can make mistakes, even when following your rules. Keep 'ask first' on for anything that sends, publishes, deletes or pays, at least until you trust the agent with a given task.
Before you switch one on
- Turn on 'ask first' for sending, posting, deleting and paying
- Connect email as read-only until you trust it
- Set a monthly cap on any on-demand or extra usage
- Opt out of model training if you don't want your data used
- Don't put shared or work passwords on a Grok Bot computer that every bot can see
- Review the activity log once a week
Our verdict
- 1.Start with Muse if you're in the US or Canada. It's free and covers most personal errands.
- 2.Add Grok Bot if you code or want scheduled work jobs. $20/mo is the cheapest way to get a team of agents.
- 3.Pick Dots only if your work already runs through ChatGPT, Slack or Teams and the $100/mo pays for itself.
